PROJECT MANAGER FOR THE CHURCH IN HAITI - United States Conference of Catholic Bishops

Position Description:
Temporary position (1-2 years) to carry out the policies and provide staff support to the Haiti Advisory Group, part of the USCCB response to help the Church in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. Meets with Church leadership in Haiti to develop pastoral and Church rebuilding projects and assists them in preparing grant applications. Works both in Haiti and in the United States in concert with Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Haiti hierarchy, Apostolic Nuncio and other funding agencies to ensure accountability and effectiveness in the use of funds.

Requirements:
Level of Study: Bachelor’s Degree is required.

Major Field/Specialty: One or combination of the following: Finance, construction, pastoral programming, disaster
recovery

Foreign Language Requirement: Fluency in French required; Fluency in Creole desired; Ability to understand and speak Spanish helpful

Other Specialized Training:
• Knowledge of managing medium-to-large scale construction projects
• Necessary:
o Knowledge of the Catholic Church, structures and its pastoral activities
o Finance and accounting skills
o Good writing and verbal skills
o Moderate computer skills, with the ability to learn new software
o Experience in disaster relief in developing countries

Type and Nature of Professional Experience (Minimum 5-6 years experience):
• Work with USCCB collections or other grant making/fundraising organizations.
• Experience in pastoral setting
• Experience with the Church in Haiti and in other Latin American countries is helpful
• Experience living and working in Haiti

COORDINATOR - MercyWorks Volunteer Program, Mercy Home for Boys and Girls

For over 120 years in Chicago, Mercy Home for Boys and Girls has provided abandoned, neglected and abused youth—between the ages of 11-21—with the resources they have lacked before coming to Mercy Home: a safe place to live, clothing, shelter, education, medical care, counseling and gainful employment.  The MercyWorks Coordinator at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls will assist the Program Manager in all aspects of operating the MercyWorks Program, a volunteer service program for approximately 14 young adults (21 years of age or older) who commit to one year of service, faith-based community living, and personal and faith formation.  Applicants should have a BA—preferably in Social Work, Ministry, Social Service or a Social Justice related area—and must be an Alumnus of a faith-based volunteer program.  Please fax or e-mail resumes to Human Resources at jobs@mercyhome.org. CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER - Amigos de Jesus

Location:  Macuelizo, Honduras
Contract: 2 year minimum
Organization Description: Amigos de Jesús is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Malvern, PA that supports an orphanage in Macuelizo, Honduras.  The orphanage is home to approximately 50 children although Amigos de Jesús also supports another 350+ financially through other programs in Honduras, Guyana and Tanzania. 
Job Description: Amigos de Jesús is currently recruiting a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to work our orphanage in Honduras.  The COO will be responsible for administration of the orphanage and its staff and will report directly to the CEO and the Board of Directors in the United States.

DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT - Catholic Network of Volunteer Service

Catholic Network of Volunteer Service, a Washington, DC-area national resource center for faith-based volunteer programs, is in search of a FT Director of Development to implement organization’s development plan, research and write grant proposals, manage grant projects, coordinate direct mail solicitations, execute major gifts and planned giving strategies, conduct donor cultivation and special events, and manage donor database.  We are seeking a proven multi-tasker.  Some assistance is available with grant writing, database management and event planning. Light travel involved. Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred).  Ideal candidate will have at least three years of fundraising experience, with a proven track record of meeting financial goals. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must, along with aptitude with MS Office and fundraising software.We are looking for a creative, business-minded thinker.

DIRECTOR - Dominican Volunteers USA

Dominican Volunteers USA is in search of a new Director.

DVUSA is a national collaborative organization that recruits and places young adults as volunteers in full-time ministry.
Volunteers work with marginalized populations while living in a community of Dominican sisters or friars.

The Director manages the program, supervises and collaborates with a small staff, and reports to a national board of directors.

Director Qualifications:

1. Bachelors Degree, with some experience in non-profit administration

2. Demonstrated ability to secure funding, including grants, individual giving, and outreach

3. Strong leadership and management skills (including program, organization, finance, and marketing)

4. Experience fostering relationships with communities and groups

5. Forward thinking and interested in planning for program growth

GRADUATE ASSISTANT, MOTHER JONES HOUSE MENTOR - Wheeling Jesuit University

Wheeling Jesuit University is seeking to fill the academic year part-time position of Graduate Assistant, Mother Jones House Mentor for the 2010-2011 academic year beginning Aug 1, 2010.  The Mother Jones House is an intentional Christian community service-learning residence located in the low income East Wheeling community.  The House is a partnership between WJU and the Laughlin Memorial Chapel (LMC), an organization dedicated to children’s programming and community improvement in East Wheeling. House members live by six core values: simplicity, faith, community, social justice, learning, and service.

The mentor schedules and conducts a weekly house meeting, and coordinates with student, house prayer and a community dinner on a weekly basis.  He/she oversees student planning and delivery of informational programs for the campus community about the house. To grow their commitment to the core values, the mentor’s must be accessible and available to students, especially on most evenings and weekends; mentor them in a Christian way of life; meets weekly with each student to check-in on class, service, and house concerns; and supports the Director of the LMC in placing students at service sites.  The position is part time, but includes a stipend, Graduate Assistant level tuition remission, room and board.  Applicants must have a Bachelor=s degree with a 3.0 cumulative grade point average from a four-year college or university, full acceptance into a master=s Degree program at Wheeling Jesuit University and experience in communal living and/or residence life.
