Director of Moreau Center for Service and Leadership, University of Portland, OR

Open June 2008 - The Director of the Moreau Center for Service and Leadership is a full time, 12 month position.  Candidates should have a background in the teaching and application of Catholic Social Justice, community-based service learning, and extensive experience in managing volunteers and service programs.  Main responsibilities include strategic planning, as well as conceptual and organizational development for the Moreau Center.  The Director supervises the Moreau Center staff, student leaders and program coordinators, plans and administers budgets, cultivates and maintains partnerships with local, state and national community service programs and promotes service as a key element of learning. The University of Portland is affiliated with the Congregation of Holy Cross. In the tradition of a Holy Cross education, the Director must be committed to an integrated learning model in which the heart is engaged as much as the mind.  Catholic Christian values inform all the work of the Moreau Center in which the University’s motto of “teaching, faith and service,” is foundational. Assistant Director of Catholic Campus Ministry, DePaul University

ANTICIPATED OPENING (official posting is expected to be finalized by the end of April):   DePaul University (Chicago) is seeking to hire an Assistant Director (A.D.) of Catholic Campus Ministry (CCM).  The A.D.’s primary ministry will be the planning and implementation of student-oriented religious education programs, including the oversight of small faith communities on campus.  In addition, s/he will have administrative responsibilities that include managing internal and external communication for CCM, as well as supervision of student leaders.  The A.D. will assist in the development of a comprehensive plan for evangelization and student formation. This position calls for a Masters Degree in Theology, Divinity, or Catholic Studies.  Significant campus ministry experience is needed.  DePaul University is the largest Catholic university in the U.S.  The ideal candidate is someone who can work well with diversity, who enjoys Chicago’s urban setting, and who seeks to make an institutional impact through religious education and student formation.  Please send a resume, a letter of introduction, and contact information for two references to Fr. Coordinator of Faith Formation, DePaul University

Construction project coordinator sought for Nazareth Farm, a small Catholic non-profit serving rural West Virginia through home repair while providing service experiences to high school and college volunteers.

Position requires: Construction experience with a working knowledge of basic homebuilding skills, ability to work with local community members, and teach staff and volunteers. Person must have leadership skills and an openness to youth/young adult ministry, and a desire for prayer, simplicity and community living.

Part-time Development Position, Catholic Mission Forum Mission Congress 2010

The Mission Congress is held every five years in the US. It is a collaborative effort among various agencies of mission in the U.S. - Bureau of Catholic Black and Indian Missions, Catholic Church Extension Society, Catholic Network of Volunteer Service (CNVS), the Conference of Major Superiors of Men (CMSM), the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR), the Pontifical Mission Society, USCCB’s Offices for Home Mission, Latin America , and Pastoral Care of Migrants and Refugees, and the United States Catholic Mission Association (USCMA). Together, this coalition forms the Catholic Mission Forum.

In view of the Mission Congress 2010, the Catholic Mission Forum would like to invite someone who is experienced in Development work to consider assisting the Catholic Mission Forum on a part time basis. The commitment is for two years, part time. We hope that the person is passionate about mission, knowledgeable in grant writing, able to build relationships among religious groups and diocesan mission offices, possesses good communication skills, and is knowledgeable in computer programs such as Access, Word, and Excel.

This opportunity, while part time, will give the individual a chance to make a difference in ensuring that mission remains on the agenda of the U.S. Church.

Associate Director, Missionary Cenacle Volunteers

Missionary Cenacle Volunteers (MCV) is seeking an Associate Director to help coordinate all aspects of the MCV program.  The MCV program provides long and short-term mission service opportunities across the USA, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica and seeks “to help Catholics become apostles” by growing spiritually while serving those in need.  

Major responsibilities include volunteer recruiting, placement, support and development; program promotion; “Alternative Spring Break” trip coordination; alumni relations; and general program management and development.  Weekend and evening work will be required.

Qualified applicants must enjoy travel and meeting new people, be computer (particularly Macintosh) proficient and be active, engaged Catholics.  A bachelor’s degree is required but a Masters and ministry/volunteer experience is preferred.  Capability in Spanish is highly desirable.

Job Description: Catholic Volunteers in Florida (CVIF), an independent 501(c)3 organization, is seeking an energetic, highly motivated, self-starter as its next Executive Director. CVIF has a 25 year history of managing volunteers throughout the seven dioceses of Florida. Experience in the areas of fundraising, budgeting, organizational management, event planning and volunteer management are essential. Ideal candidate will have experience in the volunteer movement, be ready for the challenges of running a small statewide organization, and have a demonstrated ethic of service. Executive Director will report to a Board of Directors and lead a team that includes two additional full-time staff members as well as two part-time college interns. Travel throughout Florida is expected. The office is centrally located in Orlando, Florida. Immediate opening.

Assistant Director, Passionist Volunteers International

To work in recruiting, orienting and placing volunteers for long term service in international sites, Jamaica, W.I. and Honduras, C.A.


Qualifications:   Bachelor’s degree; international service experience; proficient computer literacy along with adept skills for organization and administration.  Needed-- ability to work both independently and collaboratively.  Expected-- aptitude for effective communication, both oral and written; excellent interpersonal qualities coupled with flexibility and sense of humor. While not a requirement, facility in Spanish would be desirable.  The Assistant will need to manage a life style that will involve a substantial travel routine.  Because PVI is a faith based program, the Assistant would need to maintain an appropriate faith commitment.
