Francis Award Featuring special guest Chris Matthews, host of MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews Thursday, June 24, 2010 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm Catholic Network of Volunteer Service bestows the Bishop Joseph A. Francis Award on individuals or groups that have demonstrated exemplary service to their local communities. BB&T Bank’s extensive efforts in promoting volunteerism among their employees are exemplified in their most recent initiative, the BB&T Lighthouse Project. The bank invested $3 million and deployed their 30,000 employees to donate more than 60,000 volunteer hours to help their home communities in this project lasting through September 2009. The more than 1,000 projects across the nation included repairing homes, hosting events for hospice programs, participating in homeless prevention programs, and providing food for soup kitchens and food pantries.
