

For Volunteers : Urgent Opportunities : More InfoUrgent OpportunityVolunteer Caseworker, Adoption Services Casa de Esperanza de los Ninos -- the House of Hope for Children -- located in Houston, Texas is seeking a candidate to work as full-time adoption caseworker monitoring the placements of children in pre-adoptive families. Casa de Esperanza was established in 1982 and serves very young children in crisis with a full array of residential foster care, developmental and psychological services. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree (preferably in social work or related field OR prior experience with foster care/adoptions) and a valid driver's license. Duties include: monitoring pre-adoptive placements with a monthly visit in the home, coordinating training opportunities for pre-adoptive families, providing education and support to pre-adoptive families of special needs children, ensuring the timely completion of all required paperwork, and coordinating the scheduling and consummation of adoptions with the family court of jurisdiction. The Caseworker will be considered a full-time volunteer of the agency and will receive a monthly stipend of $550, room and board, medical insurance and two weeks of paid vacation. Successful completion of one year's volunteer service in this position may lead to full-time, paid employment with the agency.
